This was an assignment for Drawing II. We all took pictures of a classmate and had about 2 weeks to draw them using the printed photo as a reference. I went a little above and beyond the 10 hours spent over four class periods and did a lot of extra work at home. Steve is a pretty awesome dude, and I'm pretty pleased with how well it turned out. This was my first go around using actual charcoal paper and I will not be going back to the stuff I used before.

Supplies: General's Peel & Sketch charcoal pencils (soft, medium and hard), Char-Kole compressed charcoal sticks, General's Powdered Charcoal, Peel-off Magic Rub eraser, 18x24" Canson Charcoal paper in white
Time: 20 hours

Wow. When i saw this i was absolutely blown away. The detail is remarkable.
The look in the model's eyes is very intense, perhaps even stern or angry. Bravo on a job well done. The shading is wonderful! Altogether, this is a mind-blowing composition and i would encourage you to keep on going for, this is gorgeous and i can find no faults at all! I really like how you shaded the crease on his forehead, making it realistic and not too obvious. The facial hair (beard) was masterfully done, not being to exaggerated. I love how you did the glasses making them visible on his face considering how dark it is in the portrait. So yes, that is my critique. Thank You
